Capturing the Heart of It
After finishing his formal education as a photographer Steffen decided to go solo and focus on his main interest - portraying people. Aiming high to do this he left his job in Germany and moved to New York City. There, Steffen took thousands and thousands of pictures of famous and not-so-famous people for some of the best magazines in the country. After decades of looking for the essence of a good picture Steffen knows it is not the technology nor the make-up, but the connection between the person behind and the person in front of the lens. A good photo needs a photographer who is interested in the personalities of people, loves to communicate with them and loves to make them feel good about who they are. Capturing pictures which go beyond the right lighting, using the right lens and saying "cheeeeeeese" - capturing the heart of people in every moment - that is what Steffen found photography can be.
